Case Avalancheradar Grimming/Austria

Project Start:   2019
Project End:   ongoing
Distance: 500-3000m
Project description:

The project was started at 2019 to replace the avalancheradar from the TU-Graz, which was not longer supported. Every year there are more than 500 small avalanches on this side but only the real big one (1-3 per year) can hit the street. The aim is to trigger a traffic light system when one of these big avalanches occur. Therefor the algorithm is developed in such a way, that the starting point has to be in the upper region and the velocity has to reach a certain limit. With this conditions we are able to trigger the alarm 50-60 s before the avalanche reach the street.
